Sugar and Spice...and everything nice....

Good morning!
I thought for the next couple of posts I would share a few projects that focus on the girls and women in our lives from both the Scraps of Darkness 'Soulshine' kit and the Scraps Of Elegance 'Belle Journée' kit

Nicole has created a bright, fun and super sweet layout using the Belle Journée kit!

She took apart and detached the layers of some of the Prima roses from the add-on to create more flowers.  She does this fairly often, as it allows her to make the most of her kit.  She added a pearl brad from her own stash in the center.

She covered the Blue Fern Studio chipboard key with Imagine Ink Snow embossing powder.

She used the modeling paste with the stencil included in the Main kit and added some Minnie Pearls Prills (from the Elements Add On) for more texture.

The next layout is from me using the Scraps Of Darkness
'Soulshine' kit and featuring a photo of my beautiful granddaughters.

They live thousands of miles away - 5033.1 miles to be exact, but their mom always send me photos!  I used a SBC sketch for this layout.

I fussy cut the rose from one of the papers and laid it over a doily I misted with Lindy's Stamp Gang 'Bodacious Blush' from an earlier kit.  On the paper roses I used this really cool Art C Victorian Pink Heavy Body Ultra Chalk Soft Matte Paint Tube from the color add on.  I used flowers from the floral add on and main kit.  Those really small cute resin roses are actually Prima brads from the elements add on
I used 3 of the Prima Grungy Butterflies Mechanicals from the elements add on that I covered in the matte pink paint.

Mixed Media Monday - 5/30/16

Good morning!
I look forward to our mixed media Monday posts!

I have a couple of gorgeous projects from Wilma to share today!

This awesome 8 1/2x11 layout was created using the Travel Stories kit....

For this layout she used mostly color and stamps from the kit and scraps of paper and other little things.  She printed the picture twice...the first was too big so she cut it in pieces and used it over the page.

She had some scraps lying around and chipboard pieces .

The chipboard that's left after you got your real pieces out.

She used them to stick between layers, but most have of them have a fun shape, so on the layout they go .

She cut the title from one of the note cards.

She created her next layout using our May Scraps of Darkness 'Soulshine' kit.

Blue Fern Studio papers are strona, and work well with any kind of paints.

She used gesso on the surface but kept parts of the paper in sight, then took a stencil from one of the older kits with embossing ink and the blue wow embossing powder from the main kit.

The distressed chipboard pieces are partly painted and partly gold leafed.

Around the picture you see the Prills from the elements add on
 - they're a great way to add texture to your layouts, and we've got a lots of beautiful Prills colors in the store.

The flowers you see here are just flat stickers from her stash that

she crumpled and painted them - and a flower was born.
The title was cut from one of the pieces out of the Prima Salvage District Ephemera pack from the main kit.

Daria's & Annie's gorgeous 'Wonderful' Kit Creations

Good morning!

I love chipboard titles.....they are often the perfect touch to finish a layout...today I am sharing two layouts - one from Daria and one from Annie - both using the 'Wonderful' chipboard title from the Scraps of Elegance April Wonderful kit.

Annie is first with this amazing layout....

She very delicately used a stencil, of course to add a bit of color.  She cut a lot of small flowers from other papers in the kit and used the "Bird Cage" stamp around the die cuts and added some embellishments and flowers!

This next beautiful layout was created by Daria

Kathy's first 'Soulshine' kit layouts!

Good morning!
Today I am so excited to share the first layouts created with the
May Scraps Of Darkness kit - 'Soulshine'

This layout is filled with Blue Fern Studio "Serenity" and Prima "Salvage District" papers and embellishments.  The photos are of her Mom and Dad taken around 1952... they'd just gotten married.

Heritage Love Layout by Kathy Mosher

She started by using a gorgeous paper for the background from Blue Fern Studio included in the Main Kit and Tim Holtz's "Victorian Velvet" Distress Ink to shade the background.  She ripped a page from an old book, used the Blue Fern Studios pink paper from a previous kit to create a mat for the photos. She used a die from her stash and cut out two pieces from white cardstock to frame the mats. On the pink mat she used a photo corner that is included in the Prima Salvage District Ephemera pack in the Main Kit.

She purchased the circle chipboard from the Scraps of Darkness/Elegance from the store located here:   http://www.scrapsofdarkness.com  and used Stampendous Aged Embossing Powder in Pink on it.

She used various flowers from previous kits and the Main Kit and tucked in bits and pieces of Prima lace from an older kit and added a Prima Salvage District brad from the Elements Add On.  She also added pearls to the centers of the lace flowers and  used 2 beautiful butterflies that were included in a past kit.

Her next layout is just as beautiful as her first and features an adorable photo of her mother, her brother and her!

Heritage layout by Kathy Mosher

She started with one of the Blue Fern Studios papers included in the Main Kit, and cut a notch at the top and bottom then inserted a piece of yellow blue fern studios paper from a previous kit.  She rolled and distressed the edges of the top paper and inserted bits of lace and flowers from previous kits.

She did a little stamping and ink splattering around the page and added 2 doilies at the top right and bottom left of the layout.  She added little pieces from the Prima Ephemera Die Cuts included in the Main Kit.

She cut a piece of chipboard from her stash in half, Inked around the edges, matted it on a piece of cardstock with little touches of lace around the edges.  She matted her photo and then started playing with the embellishments.

She fussy cut a sweet little girl from one of the Blue Fern Studios tags printed on one of the papers in the Patterned Add-on and added Gold Stickles all over it.  She adhered some flowers from the Floral Add-On and her stash, along with a little clock and tag (the clock is included in the Ephemera die Cuts from the Main Kit).

In the Elements Add-On is a packet of Prima's Mechanicals "Grungy Butterflies"

Next she created flower clusters using more flowers from the Floral Add-On and her stash and added a sweet little key that is also in the Prima Ephemera pack.   She also tucked in some little pieces of yellow ribbon from a previous kit.

She hoarded the gorgeous lace from a previous kit and used around the edges of the layout.  In the corners she diecut corner pieces and inked them with Prima's Color Bloom "Antique Gold".
